Death Must Die:  How to Unlock Characters

In Death Must Die you play as one of six heroes, who each have their reasons for wanting to defeat death. New players start the game with the only the knight, Avoron, unlocked. Luckily for us, unlocking the remaining five is straightforward. By the end of this article you will know exactly how to unlock all the characters in Death Must Die.

Unlocking Characters

Characters unlock in Death Must Die based purely on run time. After reaching the run time threshold, the next time you’re at camp you will be in control of a new character. Once you move that hero to the camp, that hero is officially part of your party. You can switch to them at the campfire, view their talents, and special achievements. Additionally, the heroes are unlocked at a fairly steady pace. Here are the unlock times according to the Death Must Die wiki:

  • Avoron – Knight – Unlocked initially
  • Merris – Sorceress – Unlocked after 12 minutes
  • Nixi – Assassin – Unlocked after 38 minutes
  • Kront – Barbarian – Unlocked after 1 hour 16 minutes
  • Skadi – Warrior – Unlocked after 1 hour 44 minutes
  • Lorien – Ranger – Unlocked after 2 hours 20 minutes.

This means that after a few runs, you’ll have a full roster! Make sure you equip your new characters with some shared items. You don’t want to go into a run ill prepared. Afterall, longer runs means fewer runs to unlock.

After you unlock a character, make sure you spend the time to give them some equipment.
Make sure you equip unlocked characters with items. Being able to multi-equip items makes this a breeze.

Conclusion

As you can see, it won’t take too long to unlock all the characters in Death Must Die. After you unlock them, make sure you give them new equipment and do a few runs to familiarize yourself with them. Make sure to defeat bosses in order to get more talent points as well. Just because they are new, doesn’t mean they have to be unprepared.
