Death Must Die: How to Get Talent Points

How do you get talent points in Death Must Die? This article aims to help you find out.
Gaining talent points to further your talent trees is one of the major ways to progress in Death Must Die.

How to Get Talent Points in Death Must Die

A major patch in April updated on aspect of progression. The patch removed Signs, and instead gave each character a unique talent tree. One thing that is not immediately clear however, is how to acquire talent points in Death Must Die. Luckily for us, they are not too difficult to obtain.

The only thing you have to do to get a talent point is beat a boss. That’s right, nothing else is required. At seven minutes into an Act 1 run, the Necromancer boss will spawn. Beat him, and a purple orb called a ‘Cosmic Essence’ will drop. Those essences are your talent points. After you pick one up,  you’ll notice that your character status screen will have a section labeled Cosmic Essence. This section keeps a record of how many points you’ve accumulated with the character so far. As you can see, getting points is not difficult at all, and soon players will find themselves with a wealth of points.

What to do with Talent Points?

Right now the only thing to do with Cosmic Essences is spend them as talent points in the talent trees. The talent trees are expansive, featuring many options for players to choose from. Be warned however, that you can only ever have a max of 36 Cosmic Essences. Which you will quickly note, is too few to max out a single tree.

The talent trees for the characters are massive. You gain talent points independently based on the character you’re playing.

While it may be frustrating that you cannot max out a character’s talent tree, there are other options. As you progress in the game you will unlock the ‘Mysterious Camp’. You can purchase talent loadout slots there, encouraging you to play around with talents to your enjoyment. Therefore, find the perfect talent combination that works for your character and playstyle.

Conclusion

In conclusion, finding and stockpiling talent points is simple. Just go on a run, and beat any boss. Make sure to collect the Cosmic Essence that they drop to unlock the constellarium, which is where you will spend your talent points. Pretty soon, you’ll have a stockpile of points, and will be experimenting with builds in no time.
