Red Loong
Red Loong is an optional boss fight in Black Myth: Wukong. You can access this boss with the Key Item, Loong Scales. Once you have the Loong Scales, travel to the waterfall in the Forest of Wolves, Outshine the Shrine waypoint. Once you dispel the waterfall, a cutscene will play and you will immediately launch into the boss fight.
Red Loong has a lot of abilities, that make the fight a hectic. If you give him too much space he will unleash rapid attacks that make it difficult to keep up. A lot of his single hit attacks come so fast that there won’t be a lot of reaction time. Using the generator along his back he can also empower himself with electricity. His quickest move is a tail sweep, which is only announced by a quick flash of his tail charging. It’s VERY tough to react too, but you can do it.
If you’re spaced too far from him, he’ll launch himself at you from across the field. Sometimes, he’ll take to the air instead. He’ll circle around for a moment, before dive bombing into you. Both of those attacks have a fairly large dodge window, but they can still catch you unaware. However, his most dangerous tool is easy to manage. Once you are able to handle that, you will find victory shortly after!

Electric Cloud
The electric cloud isn’t so much of an attack. It’s more like a condition that Red Loong can put on the battlefield. When the generator on his back activates, he will cover a portion of the field in a black cloud. After a brief moment, the cloud will explode and deal a ton of shock damage. The generator can activate in the middle of his attacks, so always watch for it. But lucky for us, this condition is easy to handle.
The generator is a huge target on his back, so it’s easy to see when it’s active. Also the clouds he sets on the field are large and easy to see. The best news of all though, he doesn’t blanket the entire field in these clouds. He only covers a small area near him. If you can locate the clouds, you can run and dodge to the other side without much worry.
You just have to pay close attention to the generator, and give priority to avoiding the clouds. Even if he starts setting the clouds in the middle of your attack combos. If you can manage the clouds, you remove a massive tool from Red Loong’s belt.
The final tip for Red Loong is a little bit of an exploit. He has one critical weakness, that leaves him highly vulnerable.
Staggering
For some reason, Red Loong is incredibly easy to stagger. And not only that, but the stagger state lasts for a LONG time. In my successful attempt I was able to stagger him on two separate occasions for nearly thirty seconds total. However, these hits came from heavy attacks in Pillar Stance. I am not certain if other heavy attacks will have the same effect. But I can confirm that it works in Pillar Stance.
When Red Loong is staggered, he will flail around on the ground. I am also not 100% sure, but he appears to take extra damage from hitting him in the generator. So if you manage to bring him down, take the extra time to get behind before you unleash your combos. You can also take a quick moment to apply buffs and heal as needed. Just keep up the pressure, and before long victory will be yours.
Overall I found this to be a very fun fight. There was a lot to keep track of, and at first it felt overwhelming. But once you get used to the flow of the battle, it become a fun game of using timed heavy hits to knock him to the ground. I hope the other Loong fights are just as fun.
