Tiger Vanguard
Tiger Vanguard is a boss in Chapter 2 of Black Myth: Wukong. You fight him near the entrance of the Crouching Tiger Temple. This boss is perhaps the most aggressive boss so far in the game, and his moves deal a TON of damage. You’ll need to pick your hits in between his oppressive onslaught, and neutralize one of the hardest hitting moves encountered so far. Luckily for us there are a few things we can take advantage of to help in this fight.
A majority of Tiger Vanguard’s moves are slow. With even a modicum of stamina regen, you should be able to recover enough to dodge in between all of his combo attacks. The only move that is tough to time is a quick slash sword attack that usually comes after he kicks you back. I’ve only seen that happen a handful of times, so it may be a rare.
Otherwise his attacks are usually 1 to 3 hit combos that are slow and can be avoided with enough space. You can risk it and get damage in between his attacks by hitting once and then dodging, but that doesn’t seem very stamina efficient. It’s better to watch and wait until he finishes his animations, so you can get a full combo on him. As usual make sure you are using Immobilize and your transformations to squeeze out as much damage as possible.

Just keep your eye on him, be patient, and watch him carefully when he does any of his jump attacks. Make sure to get the timing on those because they deal a lot of damage. Even still, the damage from the leaps and sword slashes don’t compare to his most damaging move.
Rock Solid
I’m not sure what this move is called when Tiger Vanguard does it, but when we get it it’s called Rock Solid. Tiger Vanguard will make a rock clone of himself that is immune to damage. If you try and attack the clone, your staff will bounce off and semi-stagger you briefly. After a few seconds, Tiger Vanguard will appear suddenly and attack in a straight line. You take MASSIVE damage if you get hit by this attack.
The follow up attack after he uses Rock Solid comes out too fast for me to dodge. By far the best way I’ve seen to counter it, is by using Cloud Step. He will target the clone, and leave himself open to you attacking from the mist. Be careful though! Make sure you are not in between the path between him and the clone. Tiger Vanguard has a faint shimmer while invisible, so you can track his location. If you can manage this attack, you remove a very powerful tool from his kit.
By manipulating your spacing, picking when to press your advantage, and neutralizing his powerful attacks, you will soon earn your victory screen!
